12:.Today the southwest prevailling winds kicked in with
a vengance, after the course had been set for the fickle and shifty
generally southeast winds that had been present. |

May 26 After last weeks cancellation of racing due to the small turnaout and high winds, it was good to get some racing in again. Winds were from the southeast causing the inevitable massive wind sfifts and changes in vellocity due to the buildings on the east shore. It boilled down to a crapshoot, however it seems some are better at craps than others! Brian had a battery wire break for the initial F32 races and an unnoticed maximum rudder offset until the last couple of races. |

June 2: We had great weather for racing today. The southwest wind kicked in just after we had run the first series of 3 races for the Fantasys, so they had siome flat water and light air for those races. The winds were not too strong but they did kick up a chop. Perfect race weather for the Mini 12's. Too bad we did not have a better turnout. |

9 : The weather today was sun and cloud with some ominous looking
black clouds, which fortunately did not produce any moisture. The winds
were strong from the west but swithed to northwest and back again at
various times, just to make things interesting. The course was a windward-leeward
across the harbour mouth The racing was very close, frequenly with 5
boats trying to round a mark at the same time. Also note that in these
challenging conditions, everyone had at least one last place finish! Due to the strong winds and chop, the Fantasy's did not race today. |

16 The weather today was sunny and warm, but with the dreaded
southeast wind, and light into the bargain. However for the most part
the wind reminded fairly constant; just a few dead spots to keep things
interesting. Congrats, Don, your boat was in fine form today! Only 2 Fantasy's showed up so they did not race today, though the conditions were good for them.. |

23 The weather today was sunny and warm, with a north wind
that varied from strong to nill. However for the most part the wind
reminded fairly constant. The whole fleet of Fantasy's showed up and they had a good day of racing in the flat waters with good wind. REMEMBER: Next week 6:00 pm start at Victoria Park, for the start of the Summer Series. |

30 The weather today was sunny with threatening clouds in the
distance. The wind was initially strong from the south creating a good
chop in the harbour mouth. The choppy conditions did not favour the
Fantasy 32's and they did not race. The strong winds created submarining
on the downwind legs and several Mini 12's unfortunately had the misfortune
to to capture floating weed strings. Needless to say, this did little
to improve performance! Congratulations John; you really had your boat going well today! |

Final Results for Spring Series
| Mini
12 We had a turnout of 6 faithful Mini 12 racers for most of the series and managed to get in 7 of the 8 race days scheduled. May 19th was cancelled due to bad weather. Five of each racers best finishes counted. The total points are adjusted to take into account the number of boats racing so that if you won on a day that the whole fleet was out, you would score better (lower) that if you won with only say, three boats out.

Fantasy
32 The Fantasy 32 fleet has 6 dedicated skippers, who turned out regularly. Unfortunately the weather did not always co-operate and, as a result only four race days were sailed. Three of the best finishes were used, adjusted as noted above. |

July 21: A cloudy day with light winds from the south. As the Fantasy fleet had missed so may race days due to high winds and rough waters, it was decided to race the Fantasys first while the weather was favourable. Unfortunately, the wind died during the first race of the Mini 12's, and no further racing was possible. |

Aug 18: Today we had to deal with a 90 degree windshift just at the start of the first race neccitating a pause in the racing to re-set the course. Even then we ended up with downwind starts. The wind started strong from NW, then went light and variable from N, finally settling down to strong from W! John took
the day with consitent finishes by keeping out of trouble! Congrats!

11 This week there was a light but reasonably constant
SW wind, enabling both fleets to get in a full compliment of races. |

Aug. 25 A great day for racing! Winds W-SW and gusting to about 15 knots with a slight crop. The M12's were flying but the F32's did not race. Congrats Don for the consistent finishes and taking the day. In this fleet, if you make a mistake, forget about winning and Don kept out of trouble, whereas some of the rest of us couldn't! |

Too windy for the F32, although Brian took his out after the Mini 12 races. Although his F32 was almost horizontal much of the time, he had no trouble completing tacks, as long as there was decent boat speed before tacking. So in fact the F32s
could have likely raced in these gusty winds. |

Sept.8
Winds were light but from the south so sailing was OK. As long
as one was careful to keep the Mini 12 moving and not stall nor pinch,
the boats moved reasonably well around the course. The windward mark was
missed several times (Brian, for one, undersailed it FOUR times in a row
before finally getting around the mark.) The problem was that in the light
winds the boats tended to drift sideways resulting in missing the mark.
Congratulations to Bill for getting two firsts and Ian one. |

September 15: Today wind was NE, strong to light, occasionally
shifting to the W, just to spice things up! As a result, the racing was
tight and at times a coin toss as being at the right place at the right
time. Peter Sly disqualified himself because illegal moving ballast (a
loose radio deck!) and Ian missed a couple of races resuscitating his
batteries. Congrats Brian for squeaking out the win! |

23: An extremely close day of races today. The wind was SSE at
about 5kn. Seas had a light chop and the sky was overcast. There were
3 F32's present and they elected to sail 4 races first so that the M12's
could get in their races in case conditions changed. |

29: Another close day of racing, with 7 boats out, almost our full
fleet. We welcomed Bill Cope with his recent acquisition from Chris Wyvill
of sail no. 93. Winds were NW and very gusty. We set a course off the point, however the winds tended to swirl around a lot as the came around it, making it difficult to tell what point of sail one's boat was at! The leeward mark at times was a beat for the last few boat lengths, and then another beat as you came around to go the opposite direction! Congrats to Bill Cope for his win in race 7, with the new boat. F32's did not race today. |
