(Overall Final Results Here)

May 06: Following are the results for our first day of racing for the season. It was a blustery day that was a test to gear and sailing. The racing was very close; everyone is getting very competent so that if you mess up a start or a mark rounding you cannot win. Notice how all the race winners also their bad moments finishing well down the fleet!

May 13 : Almost perfect sailing conditions with SW winds. Peter S. would have done much better but he managed to sail his boat under the dock and knock the mast down just prior to the last race. So he was DNS for this one.

... Sail No. Skipper Points Total

May 27 Following are the results for our 4th day of racing. Light northerlies made for tricky sailing in the harbour mouth.
Congratulations to Peter S for his win!
Unfortunately, Peter S.could not race - electrical gremlins. The boat worked fine when he got home, however, so assumed that the switch was the problem, and that has been dealt with!
Brian C. was away on his "real" sail boat.

June 10: It was great to be back racing after last weeks cancellation due to the weather.
Again, we had lots of wind and WAVES! The course was a short triangle in the harbour mouth just south of the BQYC dock, to try and get some shelter. The racing was spirited, but it's a shame we did not have more skippers. Peter Sy had to retire due to batteries being jarred loose in the rough water. He had a great opportunity though, to check out Dolan's private slip on the other side of the harbour while retrieving his boat the first time! For those who are not familiar with the scoring, a DNS or DNF are scored as the number of boats racing plus one.

June17 : The points were very close! One point position change in the top three would have totally changed the results. Congrats to John for squeeking through for the win.
Again, lots of wind and waves! Conditions were strong westerlies (racing was in the inside harbour) with big waves. There was a heavy rainstorm just after the last race was completed.

Final Results for Mini 12 Spring Series

The scores carried forward from each race day = score divided by number of boats that day During series we raced 7of the 8 days - so best 5 days counted (50% of races plus one, rounded up) so if raced all race days then we drop 2 highest scores. Days less than 4 are brought up to 4 by adding the highest score in the series for each day.
Scores are only for those who participated in at least one race of the series.

Congratulations to Peter Sly for the overal win!

Summer Series
July 1 Following are the results for our 1st day of racing, for the Summer Series. This was or first evening race, and we enjoyed another day of strong winds. The 6:00 pm start time coincided with the BQYC's July 1st barbeque so we had lots of spectators. It was unfortunate that there were only 4 boats racing. Brian and I had some good racing but I must have given away the trick to trimming for heavy winds because after a few adjustments in the first few races he beat 4 straight. Guess I'll have to try something else, like not making a big error (see race 2)!

July 8 Following are the results for our 2nd day of racing, for the Summer Series. Winds were lighter than we have had, but pleasant with the occasional shift just to us on our toes. Racing was close (as has been the case lately!) and any errors put you to the back of the fleet. Consistent finishes took the day. Congratulations, Brian!

July 29: Following are the results for our 3rd day of racing, for the Summer Series. It was one of the best days for wind that I can remember; steady at about 5 knots from the SW, with some small shifts to keep it interesting. Jill was doing well then had boat problems. Also not Ian's 4th place finish. It's coming along!

August 5 Wind out of the anchorage made for some tricky shifts in the light winds. Sail trim was critical. Brian managed to sail the wrong course TWICE! Jill had some radio problems. Note the only 0.25 point difference between Don and Peter Sly for first and second place. Tight racing!

August 12: Light winds NW proved to be flakey as well. Don showed us how to do it. After the races Peter went over my sail settings so I will see if that improves things next time in these conditions. Thanks Peter, but perhaps it would have been useful information to have BEFORE the races! Brian missed the racing due to a meeting.

August 19: Light winds N to NE coming down the harbour proved to be flaky (again) and everyone had at least one first place finish. Brian's consistency carried the day. My revised sail trim helped me the be closer but it's hard to win when you get on the wrong side of wind shifts, when you go the wrong side of a mark, and when you foul someone (sorry Peter) in a port starboard situation!

August 26: Following are the results for our 7th and last day of racing, for the Summer Series.

Wind from the north when we set the buoys, but when we started racing we had a downwind start. Oh, for a sea anchor! Some of the regulars were away on holidays, so the small turn out.
There was a spare boat which Peter Cox sailed in the first race. Then Jill's broke down and she took over, so all points have been shown for Jill.

Chris sold his Fantasy 32 to Bill Cope from Wellington. Hopefully Bill will join the rest of us in racing. Thanks to Bill Gough for his assistance in joining a sailor with a boat.
Next week, a 1:30 start with both Mini12's and Fantasy's alternating after 4 races.

Summer Series Overall Results
We had the opportunity to race on 9 days however, there was no racing on July 22, therefore 8 race days counted, and the best best 5 for each skipper counted for the series points. Congratulations Brian!
Shows how important it is to compete in as many races as possible in order to get rid of those "off" days!

5. 84 Peter Savidge 24.122
6. 111 Ian Dallas 35.538

The scores are carried forward from each race day. If one raced all 9 race days then we drop 3 highest scores. If raced less than 5 days, total is brought up to 5 by adding the highest score in the series for each day missed.

The following are the calculated points for all those who completed at least one race of the series.

September 16: Following are the results for our 3rd day of racing for the Fall Series.
Wind was NW light and variable for the first few races, but changed to SW and stronger as the day progressed. Luckily the offset mark could be used as the new windward mark, and the start marks, by some miracle, dragged themselves into a reasonable position!
We only did five races with the F32s due to equipment failure with two of the skippers. Peter's boat was rapidly filling with water!

September 23: Following are the results for our 4th day of racing for the Fall Series.
Wind was SSE light and variable for the first few races, but shifted and strengthened lightly as the day progressed. Again, the offset mark could be used as the new windward mark, but the start marks remained hugely skewed! Port starts at the port end of the line were the order of the day.

We had more F32s racing then Mini 12s, so this fleet is growing nicely. Expect that next year it will have full fleet status in QMYC as the Soling had previously.
