Spring Series
(Overall Final Results Here)
May 01: Light winds but reasonable racing. All were in a bit of a learning mode and 1st and 2nd place were only 0.25 point apart, and both had one one bad race. A couple of F32s sailed a couple of demonstration races as well. |

May
8 :Very windy from west, so there were a lot of waves that
made tacking a bit tricky if you hit a wave just as you were trying
to come about. Since the races went quickly, we did
8 races, all to count which is why the scores are
high. Peter Sly was great with three firsts! Terry
and Brian tried their F32s for a race but the high winds and big waves
made these small boats almost unmanageable when trying to tack. The
light weight of these boats means little momentum, making coming about
very difficult. It was often necessary to gyb to come about. |

May 15: Six Mini 12s raced. Once again, very windy and high waves so we set the course in the inner harbour behind the main dock. Still a lot of surf here, but at least a lost boat wouldn't go too far. We did eight races, all to count, again. Interesting racing with Peter Sly doing very well with THREE first and John had Two firsts, as did Peter Savidge. However, it shows how consistancy pays off as Brian, although he had only one first, won over all with all his seconds and one third. Norm's boat almost sunk as it was apparently holed during a collision and took on a lot of water before he realized that something was wrong. |

May
22: A great day for those who relish the light airs, at least
it was warm! We also
had three Fantasy 32s out for some practice racing. Only did two races
(John, Terry, Brian) as winds were too variable and Terry kept having
radio problems. However, Brian, #15 did manage to cross the finish line
first in both "races". |

circular at times, but there was mostly always decent wind. |

19 : Good winds, and fortunately we got the 8 races in before
the really high winds started. Norm congratulations on your First! |

Final Results for Mini 12 Spring Series
|
The scores
carried forward from each race day = score divided by number of boats
that day During series we raced 7of the 8 days - so best 4 days counted
(50% of races plus one) so if raced all race days then we drop 2 highest
scores. Days less than 4 are brought up to 4 by adding the highest score
in the series for each day. The top three were
very close (Only 0.373 points between first and third!). Competing regularly,
and having those throw-aways, really helps! |
