Fantasy 32 Class Rules and Specifications
(As of March, 2007)

1.0 Introduction
The Fantasy 32 is a copyrighted design by Douglas B.Munro of Ottawa, Canada to provide a smaller more economical model sailing yacht for one design racing and day sailing. The object of the class is to keep the construction simple and as inexpensive as possible and to discourage "go-fast" modifications and materials.

2.0 The Fantasy 32 Association
All Fantasy 32 boat owners will be eligible to join The Fantasy 32 Association upon registration of their boat with the Canadian Radio Yachting Association. For the time being, the Fantasy 32 Association executive will consist of the designer and the hull builder and supplier. Future fleet representatives will be elected as and when required.

3.0 The Hull
The one piece hull shall be constructed of hand-laid fiber glass cloth. The hull shall be made by the designated class builder Frank Scott of Newington, Ontario, Canada.
(Telephone 613-984-2519), or his designated heirs or successors in a mould or sister mould made from the designers original plug. The builder shall install a hull number inside each boat produced, on the starboard side. Hulls may not be cut, or modified in any way. A collision fender may be installed on the stem head by the owner.

4.0 Boat Weight and Ballast
The minimum weight of the vessel ready to sail should not be less than 7 Ibs-5 oz.
The ballast will be no. 9 lead shot and epoxy bonded together and to the inside of the keel. The ballast lead and epoxy should weigh approximately 3 lbs-4 oz.

5.0 Deck Layout and Construction
Positions of the mast and deck fittings shall conform to the sail plan. A maximum of two hatches may be installed in the deck to allow radio control and rudder head access. Hatch shapes and sizes are not restricted.
Decking shall be 1/16'1 plywood, strip wood, or any combination thereof. The maximum beam of the hull shall be 7-9/16" and the outside edge of the deck shall be flush with the sides.

6.0 Rudder
The rudder shall be constructed of 1/4" plywood with an epoxy (and paint) finish. Install a 1/8" diam. drill-steel rudder stock to the rudder running in a 1/4" diam. brass bushed rud- der tube as shown.

7.0 Mast and booms
The mast shall be constructed of 3/8" diam. carbon fiber kite tubing, or thin wall aluminum tubing (6160).
The main boom and jib boom shall be made of white pine to the dimensions shown on the sail plan.


8.0 Riqqinq and Deck Fittings
The use of commercially available fittings such as goosenecks, fairleads and bowsies is permitted. For the guidance of those who prefer to make their own, full construction drawings are shown on the sail plan.
The backstay fitting must be installed on the deck and not beyond the transom. Similarly, the jib boom shall not extend outboard of the stemhead. See locations for the rigging attach- ments on the sail plan. Plastic coated woven braided wire shall be used for the stays and shrouds of the model.

9.0 Sails
Sails may be of Dacron, Nylon, or Drafting Plastic. Panelled sails are not allowed. The jib area is 202.2 Sq.In. and the mainsail is 199.8 Sq.ln. measured within the extended apexes of each sail.


10.0 Battens
Battens, if used must be spaced as shown on the sail plan. Battens are not required when using Mylar for sails as this material is sufficiently stiff without them. Mylar sails shall have a straight foot with no roach curve in order to clear the tops of the booms.

10.0 Sail Reinforcement
Sails may be reinforced by the addition of woven cloth, or tape material within 1-1/2" radius of the apexes at the head, tack and clew of each sail.

11.0 Sail Numbers and Class Logo
The location and size of the sail numbers and logo must con- form to the sail plan. Boats without the sail numbers and logos will not be registered for racing at formal regattas.

12.0 Radio
A maximum of two channels is allowed; one for sail control and one for rudder. The use of radio controls for back-stay tension, additional jib trim, jib twitchers etc. is not permitted.

13.0 Wind Indicators
The use of a wind indicator, or flag on top of the mast and/or telltales is permitted.

14.0 Sheet Leads
Sheet leads are to be made of brass, or plastic and are not to be higher than 1/2" above the deck.

15.0 Permitted Tolerances
All dimensions shown on the Deck Framing and Sail Plan are to be plus or minus one eighth of an inch maximum.

16.0 Amendments to the Specifications and Class Rules Amendments, changes and additions that may from time to time be considered necessary by the Fantasy 32 Class Association shall be published as numbered amendments to these Specifications and Class Rules and will be communicated by post to all registered boat owners.
