Junior Badminton (Under 19)
Bay of Quinte Badminton Club (BQBC)
|
Our practices are on Sundays at Centennial Secondary School from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This time slot has been selected so that some of the more competitive players can stay longer and take part in the adult club that begins at 7:30 p.m. Our gym time at
the new Quinte Christian High School on Walbridge Loyalist Road has
again been arranged. This is intended to be an informal practice time.
BQBC members are encouraged to come out and play with their parents
or friends (even if the friends are non-members – and it is free).
This practice is available on Tuesdays, 6:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. possibly
to 7:30 p.m. Some individual coaching is provided at this time as well.
Some players for the adult club begin to arrive at 7:00 and they have
priority for the courts. Juniors can play to 7:30 if courts are available.
Parents and friends can play compliments of BQBC members. Our Vision The motivation for the BQBC is to introduce young athletes to the sport of badminton and to develop their skills so that they can compete at district tournaments. Our challenge is to develop athletes to be able to compete at the Provincial level and beyond. Maturity Requirements The BQBC accepts
players from the age of 9 to under 19. We compete in tournaments that
generally have age divisions of under 19, under 16, under 14 and under
12.

Our Season and Tournaments The season runs from our 1st practice on Sunday September 18, 2011 to the middle of April. Members are encouraged to participate in several tournaments over the year and certainly the year-end district championships. Most tournaments are out of town such as Whitby or Peterborough or Kingston. Some higher level “elite” tournaments require travel to other southern Ontario cities. Car-pooling is encouraged. We do have an in-house club championship tournament at the end of the year as well. Parents are encouraged to attend to support their child’s efforts. Cost and Expenses The cost
to join the Club for the season is $75.00 per athlete. A receipt
is provided for income tax purposes. How to Join To join the BQBC, simply attend one of our practices. A fee is not charged until the third practice. If you would like
