About the Bay of Quinte Yacht Club

The BQYC is located in the City of Belleville on the Bay of Quinte, a short walk from the city centre. Our home sailing grounds are in the protected waters of the Bay, one of the best boating areas in Canada.

The Club caters for the sailing interests of both sail and power boaters, and attracts those interested in cruising, racing in keelboats or dinghies, or simply socialising at the Long Reach Bar or at one of our many Socal Events. Some of our members get involved in all of the above!

Racing is a particular interest of many members, and keen competition throughout the season ensures a lively Awards Ceremony.

Keelboat racing is a regular weekly event, and our Laser fleet is also very active.

For those new to sailing, and also for those with experience who want to improve their skills, our Sailing School offers a wide range of learning opportunities for kids and adults.

The annual Sailpast is an opportunity for all members to take their boats out, join the melée together and salute the Commodore early on in the season. Always a great turnout!

Be sure to go the the south of the red spars between the bridge and BQYC, or you'll run agound like this visitor!

Club cruises are organised annually, involving both sail and power boats, seeking out the many attractive destinations along the Bay, often ending up at one of the marinas in the Thousand Islands. And of course, individual members take their boats, sometimes in a small informal flotilla and sometimes just on their own, to explore the waters of the Bay and further afield.

Food is served. Many members use these cruises as a convivial start to their summer getaway.

Visitors are welcomed at BQYC. There is a well-protected dock available adjacent to the clubhouse, spacious enough for several large boats.

The Club offers washrooms, showers, use of a BBQ, and ice. Fuel and pump-out are available just next door at Myers Pier. Click on Membership in the menu on the left for details of our reciprocal arrangements.

Join us at the Long Reach Bar for a cool one, play some pool, or just relax in air-conditioned comfort in front of the TV. And we're open all winter too, with Social Events, warming refreshments and friendly company always on tap.
